Here in Matthew 24 we see where Jesus uses a field of wheat to explain what is going to happen in the end times. Jesus is the man who sows good seed. Angels are the servants in the story who are waiting to harvest the wheat. The enemy is Satan. The field is the world. The weeds are the non-Christians and the wheat are Christians (followers of Jesus). What Jesus is telling his servants in this parable is that once we are saved we are like wheat in a field. His angels ask Jesus once the wheat starts producing grain should they go and pull the weeds up? Jesus tells his angels to leave the weeds alone until it is time to harvest because when they pull the weeds up the wheat will be uprooted also because their roots have become tangled up together. Jesus is still in the process of sowing good seed and is still in the business of saving the lost. I always wonder sometimes now that I’m saved, why doesn’t Jesus just go ahead and come back and end all of this hurt? But as this explains here there is still work to be done. Nobody knows when he is coming back but until he does we are to become empty vessels so that he can work through us to produce more good seed. Jesus is waiting to harvest because when he comes back to bring us all home it is going to be necessary to destroy everything and to destroy all sin. The good news is that weeds are being transformed into wheat. Children of sin (weeds) are being forgiven and being adopted into the Kingdom of God. We were all born in sin and Jesus died on the cross for you and for me. All we have to do is accept what he did for us. It is the greatest gift anyone can ever receive. One day Jesus is going to come back and harvest all of the wheat into his barn (the kingdom of God) and burn all of the weeds. One thing that is hard to comprehend for us is that there is no middle ground. We are either wheat or a weed. What will tell you which one you are is what fruit you are producing. As for me 3 years ago I did this and took a long hard look in the mirror and realized that I had no fruit in my life and realized I was a weed in this field. The only way I was going to produce wheat was by letting go of my old self and letting God plant me as a good seed in his Garden. Now that he has saved me I have a lot of spiritual growing to do until this life is done. I want to challenge everyone today to take a good long look in the mirror and ask yourself “Am I producing good fruit or am I fruitless?” Know that you know that you know that you have Jesus in your heart. “Then I looked, and there was a white cloud, and one like the Son of Man , was seated on the cloud, with a golden crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. Another angel came out of the temple, crying out in a loud voice to the one who was seated on the cloud, “Use your sickle and reap, for the time to reap has come, since the harvest of the earth is ripe.” So the one seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.”
