Hosea 6 is a message to the Israelites especially the Northern Kingdom(Ephraim) about how he desires true repentance. He describes to them how their repentance means nothing to him because it is not genuine. They only repent to God to get out of the consequences of their sin. The way I like to describe it is a “get out of jail free card.” How many times have we come to God in our lives only because the consequences of our sin have become so severe? How many times have we prayed for God to get us through a situation and once he does we forget about him and go back to doing our own thing? God hates this and desires a true meaningful relationship with his children. God is a good father and a father that is worthy of our love and respect. We have the free will to choose him everyday. Be careful not to only call on him when times get tough. Call on God daily. Call on God when you’re comfortable or not comfortable in life. God desires us to put him at the head of our lives because we love and desire him, not just to get us through a tough time. God has a love for us that we will never be able to comprehend. We don’t have the capability to understand how much love for us he has. God repeatedly lets us know from generation to generation that he despises a love that is not genuine or fake. Staying steady in his word and knowledge of who God is, leads us to loving him back. It is impossible to learn who God truly is and not grow an unending steady love for him. “Come, let’s return to the Lord. For he has torn us, and he will heal us; he has wounded us, and he will bind up our wounds. He will revive us after two days, and on the third day he will raise us up so we can live in his presence. Let’s strive to know the Lord. His appearance is as sure as the dawn. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land. What am I going to do with you, Ephraim? What am I going to do with you, Judah? Your love is like the morning mist and like the early dew that vanishes. This is why I have used the prophets to cut them down; , I have killed them with the words from my mouth. My judgment strikes like lightning. For I desire faithful love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. But they, like Adam, have violated the covenant; there they have betrayed me. Gilead is a city of evildoers, tracked with bloody footprints. Like raiders who wait in ambush for someone, a band of priests murders on the road to Shechem. They commit atrocities. I have seen something horrible in the house of Israel: Ephraim’s promiscuity is there; Israel is defiled. A harvest is also appointed for you, Judah. When I restore the fortunes of my people,”
