Can you imagine God coming to you and telling you to go up to the president of the United States and telling him to change his ways or God’s wrath will come down on him and his people? Also, on top of all that, God tells you to stick a staff down in the Mississippi River and that all of the water in the United States would turn to blood if the president didn’t listen to God’s instructions. I don’t know about you, but I would think I was going crazy or that there was no way I could do any of those things. God tells Moses to go to Pharaoh and command Pharaoh to let God’s people go into the wilderness and worship him. Secondly, he tells Moses to command Aaron to throw his staff down so that it will turn into a snake to show Pharaoh that these words truly come from God. After all this, once Pharaoh has ignored God’s command, Moses is instructed to command Aaron to stick his staff down in the water of the Nile River so that all of the water in Egypt will turn to blood. Talk about having to have faith and trust! There is no telling the doubt and confusion that must have been going through Moses’s and Aaron’s minds. This is a wild sequence of events. Could you imagine how much their trust in God must have grown once they did exactly what God told them to do and he showed up. God was performing full blown miracles through Moses and Aaron. What is hard for us to comprehend is that the same God that asked Moses and Aaron to do these things, is the same God who dwells in us through his Holy Spirit. If God is leading you to do something expect him to show up. He wouldn’t be leading you somewhere to leave you hanging. If he is truly leading you to do something, walk in faith. God uses his people for his own glory and for his own good. Time and time again he picks the weakest and the most unexpected people to display his power and who he truly is. Our God is an awesome and powerful God. The things that we think are unimaginable or unobtainable are nothing to him. Once we belong to him, his Holy Spirit is with us always. Once again Moses doubts and does not believe that he can do what God is instructing him to do. Nothing that God is telling Moses to do is making sense to him and Moses becomes discouraged by this. God has to keep reassuring Moses that he has chosen him and because of this fact he is above Pharaoh. Pay attention to this key detail. The only thing that makes Moses above Pharaoh is by being chosen by God. The same is for us. When we receive God’s salvation that he has given us through the perfect sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we become chosen by God and receive his Holy Spirit. This is the only reason we should be able to face this sinful world. It is because we have the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us. That same Holy Spirit holds dominion over everything in this world. This world can try to do whatever it wants to us, but once we are chosen our fate has been decided by the one who holds the world in his hands. Walk with a humble heart and the confidence and boldness of God. We can never be plucked from his hand once we belong to him. I love y’all! Have a great day!

In chapter 5 we see that even though Moses has argued and pleaded with the Lord, he still ends up obeying what God has instructed him to do. He does exactly what the Lord has instructed him to do and the Israelites are beaten and made to do more strenuous work. This makes no sense to Moses and he can’t understand why he and the Israelite people are being punished. This is how Satan works. He tries to cause fear and confusion whenever we choose to follow God’s instructions to get us to not be obedient. We must always keep a head down mentality and never let doubt creep into our minds. If God instructs us to do something and life starts to slap you around and everything around you tries to knock you off your path, chances are, you are doing something right. Satan hates this and will insert anything into your life to knock you out of God’s will. It may be fear, anxiety, or pain. It may also be comfort, wealth, or power. When I say he will use anything to pull you away from God, I do mean anything. Stay close to God by staying in his word, praying, and getting rid of any distractions or barriers between us and God. To say this is a full time job is an understatement. Satan will use any distraction he can to make us not be obedient to God’s calling for our lives. Everyone is different and everyone has their own demons to battle. Whatever weaknesses we have, we are instructed by God to flee from it, because if we hang around it long enough, it will eventually consume us and pull us away from God. God’s gift of free will to us is what we make it. It can be our salvation and it can also be our downfall. Hold on to God for dear life and never let go of him. It is impossible to stay in his will with our own power. It takes his Holy Spirit working within us to give us the power to overcome the sinful world that we have been born into. Love y’all. Everyone in the world has heard of Moses. Everyone knows Moses for the Exodus and how he led his people out of Egypt. Everyone knows the phrase “let my people go.” What we hardly ever talk about is how disobedient and fearful Moses was to follow God’s will for his life. I mean God actually appears and talks to Moses through a burning bush. He also performs miracles for Moses by turning his staff into a snake and gave his hand frostbite. On top of all that, God gives him line by line instructions and the words that God wants Moses to say to his people and Pharaoh. God even gets angry enough with Moses that he almost kills him because he hasn’t circumcised his son and fulfilled God’s covenant to Abraham. Yet God still uses him. God doesn’t call us to be perfect he calls us to be Obedient. He calls us to be blameless. We are all naturally sinful people. One of the biggest lies that we tell ourselves is that we are not good enough to be used by God. The truth is none of us are. Here in Exodus 4 we read that Moses, one of the greatest patriarchs of our faith, received exact instructions by God and still feared the world and feared what God wanted him to do. Does this not seem crazy? It is easy to say that if God did all of those things in front of me I would be nothing like Moses. The truth is all of us are exactly like Moses. How many times in our lives have we been led to do something or felt led to do something and thought it was someone else’s job or that we weren’t good enough to do what God was leading us to do. We do this all of the time. I know I do. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen someone need help and I give myself every excuse not to be the person to help them and tell myself it is someone else’s job. If God is leading you to do something or help someone in need, act on it. Don’t wait on someone else to do it for you. Don’t think that someone better than you was meant to do what God is leading you to do. Every one of us are right where God intends for us to be. We are faced with choices and challenges everyday. Choose not to listen to the fear and anxiety inside of you. Fear is a liar. Choose to listen to the God that wants the best for you. Love y’all! Have a great day!

Exodus is one of the most important chapters of the whole Bible to me and my faith. I know everyone who has ever been to church or sunday school growing up has heard of Moses and the burning bush. God almighty actually talks and communicates to Moses through a burning bush. At this time the fire acts as a barrier between God and man because the Temple had not been built yet and God’s holiness could not be in the direct presence of sin that had not been atoned for. Man in his sinful flesh cannot be in the presence of God without dying on the spot because of how holy God is. Now God says something to Moses that is the very foundation of our faith in Jesus. Moses asks God “what should say I say your name is to the Israelites?” God says “tell them I AM WHO I AM.” Signifying that he is everlasting, eternal, and self-existing. So why is this important when it comes to Jesus? In John 8:58 Jesus claims to be the very same God that is talking to Moses in the burning bush. The religious leaders of the Jews ask Jesus “what authority he has” and “how has he spoken to Abraham if he is not even 50 years old?” Jesus responds to them by saying “before Abraham was, I AM.” The religious leaders immediately picked up stones to stone Jesus because they knew exactly who he was claiming to be. Jesus was claiming to be God because he is and always has been. It is very important for us to realize that Jesus Christ walked this earth among us God in the flesh to atone for the sins of the world because he was the only one worthy to do it. God himself had to get rid of the barrier between us and him and that barrier was sin. When Moses was talking to God he was talking to Jesus. The reason he was communicating through a burning bush is because sin had not been atoned for yet. Now that Jesus has come and lived the perfect life that none of us could ever live and sacrificed himself for the atonement of our sins we can talk to him whenever we want and have a relationship with him through his Holy Spirit by simply putting our faith on this fact. It is impossible for us to fully understand this and it not change our entire life. Love y’all! Have a great day!

Reading this chapter you can see the favor that God had on Moses from the very beginning. God works in the most mysterious ways, but he always finds a way to keep his covenant and promises. Over time the Israelites were not in a favorable position any more in Egypt. They had become a threat to the new Pharaoh because of their growing population. God uses Moses and his imperfectness for his own good. Moses had murdered an Egyptian and fled for his life from Pharaoh. During this time Moses met his wife and had a child. We will come to see later that God uses Moses to keep his covenant and free the Israelites from the Egyptians and take them to the promised land. Moses was far from perfect, but as his story goes on, he gets called by God and answers that call. We’re not all going to be Moses, but God can use anyone no matter their past or their circumstances for his glory if we let him lead us. If God is leading you to do something do it. Don’t ignore it. Throughout the Bible the most powerful people were the lowest people at one time or another and God picked them up and used them for his will. Don’t ever think you can’t be used by God. He has proven time and time again that he uses the lowest people to display his power and glory. Love y’all! Have a great day!

As we start in Exodus we see that back then it is just same demons different days. Story begins with Pharaoh being obsessed with power and becomes threatened by the numbers of the Israelites in Egypt. His solution is to kill all of the Hebrew boy babies and to kill any Hebrew males that they could. Now slow down and before we think this is crazy let’s look at what is going on today. More men, now more than ever before are sexually confused, abortion rates are sky high, and the most expensive life choice for couples is to have children. For most families it is nearly impossible for them to make it if they have too many children. Also, there is more child trafficking and child sexual abuse than ever before. It is becoming more and more socially acceptable to attack the innocence and vulnerability of children. We also look at the Muslim society and they are literally trying to out populate the world. Sound familiar? It is all the same sins just different tactics. The objective has always been the same. If Satan can get to the man he can affect that man’s whole bloodline. I can’t emphasize how crucial and powerful it is for men to be the head of the home that we were called to be. The highest calling for us is to be fruitful, multiply, and lead our families to Jesus. It has a ripple effect that could change the whole bloodline of your family for generations and generations. How we live our lives doesn’t just affect us, but it affects our children, our great grandchildren, our great great grandchildren, and so on. The father and husband choosing to put his faith in Jesus and turning himself, his wife, and all of his children to Jesus is the biggest mission and responsibility of men. If Satan can get ahold of the man he can affect his children. We are at war with every decision we make and every path we choose to take. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is for fathers and husbands to embrace this God given mission we have been blessed with to lead our families to Jesus. It is the most important mission we could ever embrace in this life. Make sure your wife and your children see you genuinely loving and giving yourself to Jesus daily. Make sure your family knows that you walk with God every day and not Just on Sundays. The family will always go where the man is leading them. Love y’all! Have a great day!
